If there is any truth to the saying that a metal band is only as good as it’s drummer then Helmsplitter has a bright future. After only 5 years as a drummer Nate Boyd is playing in a way that most veterans would be envious of. Although Nate enjoys all types of music, his intense attraction to black metal, death metal, and old school thrash is what has molded his drumming style the most. Helmsplitter’s music contains everything from complex rythms and time signature changes to long and relentless sections of blast, grind, and double bass beats. Nate is able to manage this and at the same time ad his own unique flavor to the compositions.
